A young couple planning to marry next month are “on top of the world” after their house in Melbourne’s northwest sold well above expectations at an online auction.

Cameron Maher and fiance Emily auctioned their three-bedroom property at 4 Vasa Place, Keilor Lodge, near Taylors Lakes, with a $780,000-$840,000 price guide.

However, five bidders drove the price $136,000 above their upper asking range in a competitive auction which saw the home sell for $976,000.

Mr Maher said he and Emily loved the house but with plans to have children, they wanted to move back to Queensland to be closer to their own families.

The couple bought the house in 2020, when it was listed with Barry Plant Taylors Lakes partner Andrew Koulaouzos, whom they also approached to sell the home this time around.

After first moving in, they upgraded home’s interior to match their coastal style and added vegetable beds and new plants outside.

“The lounge room has floor to ceiling windows and it’s very open plan, so you can sit there and look out at the garden,” Mr Maher said.

Both he and Emily were delighted with the auction and shed happy tears at the result.

“We’re on top of the world,” Mr Maher said.
